NFL Injury Report

Injury report for Monday games

Lance Briggs, Morris Claiborne won't play

The Saturday injury report indicates that both the defenses of the Bears and the Cowboys are both decimated by injuries. Well ... almost decimated.

Dallas and Chicago have released their personnel reports for the Monday night game. Nothing unexpected on; the teams should be at pretty much full strength.

The Cowboys will be without cornerback Morris Claiborne (hamstring). So you could argue that defense has been “decimated” by injuries. Technically, a group would need to be without one of 10 to be decimated. So for the defense, 1 out of 11 makes it close to being “decimated”. (With inflations nowadays, we tend to think a defense needs to be without 3-4 starters before we’d call it decimated.) Per wikipedia, decimation dates back to the days of the Roman army, which would punish units or large groups guiling of major offenses by killing one out of every 10 members.

Dallas might have Dwayne Harris (hamstring). He didn’t practice Thursday or Friday but returned to a limited practice Saturday and is questionable. He’s a good kick returner but isn’t one of their top 4 wide receivers.

For the Bears, they’ll be without Jay Cutler, but Josh McCown has been playing really well for them.

Chicago also will go without linebacker Lance Briggs. Poor linebacker play has played a role in the Bears having the league’s worst run defense recently. (Without Briggs in there, the unit is almost decimated with injuries.)

The bigger issue in Chicago isn’t injuries but weather. Current forecast calls for temperatures under 20 degrees, with winds off about 18 mph.

The official team injuries reports are as follows …
