There's a joke about dramatic headlines with a question mark; the answer is always "No." And maybe Kevin White, Chicago's rookie wideout who's been sidelined since the start of training camp while dealing with shin splints, will be fine.
But it's apparently a real concern that White won't be ready for the start of the season, and could even open the year on the PUP list. That would cost him the first six games of the season.
Considering White is a talented but raw rookie, that missed practice and exhibition time is even more significant. Tough to see him making much of an impact in 2015 if he's sidelined for that long. Odell Beckham Jr., of course, missed a lot of early time with a hamstring injury before putting together an incredible rookie season, but that doesn't happen very often.
Reading the linked article, it seems a bit early to make such pronouncements. The season is more than a month away, and White supposedly might begin running next week. Suggesting he'll miss the first six games does seem overly dramatic.
But clearly, it's time to move Eddie Royal and maybe even Marquess Wilson up as the likely No. 2 and 3 receivers in the early going. Royal has the best resume, so he's the one to keep an eye on in the exhibitions. It looks like he'll need to do a lot more in the offense than might have been initially thought.
