NFL Injury Report

Saturday injuries

Adrian Peterson, Brandon Fell, and the MNF teams

Some Saturday injury developments (and there are a few notable ones from around the league):

The Patriots have added Brandon LaFell to their active roster, and he could be surprisingly good right away. The Jets have a good run defense, and they also might stick Darrelle Revis on Julian Edelman. If it goes down that way, it would make sense that LaFell or perhaps Danny Amendola would need to catch a nice chunk of balls.

The Vikings have downgraded Adrian Peterson to questionable. He’s sick. He’ll probably be fine. The doctors will work their magic with IVs and whatnot. But it’s possible Peterson will be at less than full strength. This could result in him being less effective or maybe even playing less. Those with Peterson are advised to confirm on Sunday that he’s at least active. If he sits out, he would be replaced by some combination of Jerick McKinnon and Matt Asiata. McKinnon has been their No. 2 back all along, but Asiata played more than him in the last game.

The Cowboys have officially downgraded Dez Bryant to out. He didn’t make the trip to New York. He’s definitely not playing this week (and the reality that he didn’t practice at all makes him look iffy for Week 8).

And then there’s the Monday night game. Those teams have now announced their injuries.

The Cardinals have listed John Brown (hamstring) as questionable. He didn’t practice at all on Friday and was limited on Thursday and Saturday. Most likely he’ll play, but he’s at less than full strength, and it’s reasonable to expect they’ll use him less than usual. In a game they should win easily, it would be foolish for them to lose their second-most important pass catcher.

If Brown plays a little less or is targeted a little less often, the reasonable expectation would be that Larry Fitzgerald and Michael Floyd might catch a few more balls than you would otherwise expect. Makes sense to move them up a few spots in the rankings (though that isn’t possible with Fitzgerald, since we’ve already got him flagged as a top-3 receiver this week).

Arizona also will be without tight end Darren Fells (shoulder), but everyone saw that coming.

Nothing unexpected with the Ravens. Their two rookie pass catches, Breshad Perriman and Maxx Williams, are both out, but you knew that. Two of their starters in an already suspect secondary are questionable, Kendrick Lewis and Lardarius Webb.
