Week 1 of the preseason is almost in the books, and there were a lot of noteworthy performances (good and bad). But the display put on by DeMarco Murray and Derrick Henry definitely belongs in the former category.
Murray had a 71-yard touchdown romp as part of his 93-yard night. Henry then came in and added 74 more, including a 6-yard touchdown. Heck, even Bishop Sankey, perhaps showcasing himself for another team, had a good night carrying the ball (3 for 52 with a TD).
Tennessee has spent some picks and money improving its offensive line the last two offseasons, and it shows. They've got a pretty good 1-2 punch in the backfield. They're going to be able to run the ball.
“We definitely want to be a physical team, especially running the ball," said Henry later. "We want to be smashmouth. … Today was a good day."
Maybe this all works against the passing game, and maybe it had something to do with facing a Chargers defense that could struggle this season. Whatever. Early impressions are that this is going to be a very good rushing offense.
