Goal-line rushing

Sherman has point on Seahawks

So the Seahawks last night got down to the 1-yard line, and on a first and goal called a pass play that was nearly intercepted. Richard Sherman got into a sideline argument with the coaching staff about the call, saying "We've already seen how that goes."

Seattle did eventually score on a pass to Doug Baldwin, nice for those who started him and Russell Wilson but not so much for those who started Thomas Rawls. In any case, Sherman has a point, especially when you consider that Seattle has called fewer run plays from the 1-yard line than any team in the league.

Here's Sherman's take. Through the first 14 weeks of the season, Seattle ran the ball only two times from the opposing 1-yard line. Including last night's game, they've called 3 run plays and 3 pass plays from that spot. At the other end of the spectrum is New England, which has run it 12 times from down there. Not surprising that LeGarrette Blount leads the league with 14 TDs, while the leader on Seattle's current roster has 2 TDs.
