Crowell looks solid

Runs over defenders on 16-yard touchdown

I don’t understand why Isaiah Crowell didn’t receive more interest as a free agent. He signed for $12 million over three years, which is less than Jerick McKinnon, Dion Lewis and Carlos Hyde. It wouldn’t surprise me if he’s better than all of those guys.

Crowell weighs 225, has some speed, and he runs angry. He had one of the most impressive plays of the week against Atlanta, bulling through some defenders for the last 2 yards of a 16-yard touchdown catch.

This guy is a good back. I expect the Jets will use him in tandem with Bilal Powell, and that should be a good enough combo. Crowell should lead the way, and Powell also has some ability – a good pass catcher who’s averaged 5.5 and 4.3 yards per carry for lesser teams the last two years.

The Jets run the ball better than you might think. They’ve ranked 10th, 12th and 19th in rushing the last three years, averaging 115 yards per game.

Crowell suffered a concussion on his touchdown Friday night, but it doesn’t look like anything to worry about. He’s been in the league for four years, and he’s been a durable back – has never missed a game.

Count me among those who believe Crowell will last too long in typical fantasy drafts.
