Question
Philip Rivers is on the verge of becoming the first quarterback in NFL history to play in 113 straight games without scoring a rushing touchdown. (He last ran for a touchdown in 2011 at Denver). Who is the only other quarterback (now retired) who once played in 112 straight without a rushing touchdown?
Answer
Drew Bledsoe, who opened his career with 112 straight games without a rushing touchdown. That includes one game where Bledsoe came off the bench, so Rivers already owns the consecutive starts mark. Matt Ryan was in the mix here, at 96 games, but his streak ended when he oddly ran for 2 TDs against Carolina in Week 2. (Ryan also ran for a touchdown in the 2016 NFC Championship game against Green Bay, but I’m looking at just regular-season starts).
