Struggling Jared Goff

Quarterback should rebound against leaky Eagles secondary

Jared Goff was pretty awful on Sunday night, serving up 4 picks against the Bears. It served as a reminder that’s he’s not a great quarterback yet – he’s helped along mightily by his surrounding cast (both players and coaches). But I am confident Goff will bounce back strongly this week.

It’s about location. Get him at home, playing in good weather and not having to deal with crowd noise, and Goff is a lot more confident and productive.

In his six games at the Coliseum, he’s averaged 367 passing yards, with 18 TDs versus only 2 interceptions. Playing against a tattered Philadelphia secondary on Sunday, his upside is massive.

It’s on the road where Goff has looked painfully ordinary at times. Never more so than on Sunday night, where he was clearly frazzled (look at the photo – he didn’t even have time to properly get his fingers on the laces of the ball).

In his seven road games, Goff has averaged only 248 passing yards, with 9 TDs and 9 interceptions. That’s 119 fewer passing yards per game, with less than half as many touchdowns and over four times as many interceptions.
