Question

Charles Rogers died on Monday at 38. The 2nd pick of the 2003 draft, Rogers never got his career going with the Lions (where he lasted only three seasons). He did his best work at Michigan State, catching 27 touchdowns in two seasons. Whose school record (for TD catches) did he break? After college, the player in question spent 17 seasons as a pro athlete, mostly in Detroit. He won championships with two different teams.

Answer

Kirk Gibson. Other notable receivers have played at Michigan State, including Andre Rison, Plaxico Burress, Muhsin Muhammad and Derrick Mason, but Gibson held the school record for touchdown catches until Rogers came along.
