Sunday morning injury updates

Waller a gametime decision

The Sunday morning injury updates are coming in, and the biggest one involves one of the league's top tight ends. The Raiders are saying that Darren Waller (ankle) won't know if he'll be able to play until pregame warmups -- the definition of gametime decision.

Waller has been a little disappointing since his big Week 1, but is still one of the top weekly choices at a thin position. The Raiders don't play until 4 p.m. Eastern, so if you wait for those warmups, your options are reduced. A possible option, if you have the roster room and want to use Waller, is to pick up Foster Moreau, who would fill in (the only other tight end on the roster is undrafted rookie Matt Bushman). Moreau has caught 4 passes and a touchdown this season.

Other updates...

  • Antonio Gibson is expected to play through his shin injury.

  • Julio Jones (hamstring) should also play, for the Titans.

  • For the Giants, both Darius Slayton (hamstring) and Evan Engram (calf) are expected to play. Sterling Shepard (hamstring) is a gametime decision, and he worries me more, as I said yesterday, because of the Thursday downgrade; apparently aggravated the injury that didn't keep him from playing a week ago.

  • It doesn't sound great for DeVante Parker. Ian Rapoport is saying that Parker, dealing with shoulder and hamstring injuries "appears to have an uphill battle to play today." Rapoport can sometimes be unnecessarily obtuse, I think, but reading this he sounds more like doubtful than questionable. A plus for Jaylen Waddle and Mike Gesicki, who I liked anyway, but a negative for Tua Tagovailoa.

  • Alex Collins is expected to play for Seattle. This prevents anyone from making the mistake of counting on Rashaad Penny, but I am still a little wary of Collins -- tough matchup, at risk of aggravating his injury. But if I were going to use one of the two, it would be Collins.

If I see anything else significant before the early games start, I'll post it in the comments below.
