Sunday morning injury updates

Hopkins in, Packers out

The Sunday morning injury updates are coming in, and there have been developments, but not exactly surprises. The biggest ones involve the Packers, with their key questionable guys not expected to play.

  • Aaron Jones and Christian Watson are expected to be inactive with hamstring injuries. The absence of Jones helps AJ Dillion, who will start and should be featured at Atlanta. The absence of Watson, who also missed last week, is a plus for Romeo Doubs especially, and to a lesser extent rookie Jayden Reed and Malik Heath. I don't think either of those secondary guys is worth the risk, but Doubs certainly is. (Aside: weird take at Rotoworld saying "neither Doubs nor Reed is worth a WR3 dart throw." Doubs scored 2 touchdowns last week and might be Green Bay's top-performing receiver even if Watson were playing.)

  • DeAndre Hopkins is expected to be active for the Titans. When working on the Friday update, I did not expect him to play; he has an ankle injury and didn't practice all week. Apparently he's going to tape it up and give it ago. If you're in a deep enough league that you'd need to start a really lesser player, I guess you can take the risk with Hopkins. Personally if he scores this week he'll do it from my bench. I could see him playing limited snaps at best or being a decoy. Not worth the risk to me.

  • The four Monday teams released their injury reports. Two developments worth noting. The first is that Amari Cooper is questionable with a groin injury. Friday he practiced fully; Saturday he was limited with that groin injury, so it apparently happened then. Those hoping to use him tomorrow might want to line up an alternative in one of the two games just in case.

  • The other development involves the Steelers. Diontae Johnson was ruled out, as expected. But George Pickens also apparently picked up a hamstring injury in practice; he was limited on Saturday. He's not listed on the final injury report, so apparently it's not a big deal. But it caught my eye. I'm still going ahead and starting Pickens as usual, but if you're deciding between him and a similar option, maybe factor in the listing on Saturday's report.

  • Also from a Monday team, the Saints, Kendre Miller was limited all week with a hamstring injury. Might play. Shouldn't be used and I'm still very comfortable using Jamaal Williams, but possible Miller makes his debut on Monday.

  • Brandin Cooks isn't expected to play for Dallas. Yes, he has a sprained MCL. Jerry Jones calling him a gametime decision was always absurd. Michael Gallup will be the No. 2, against a good Jets defense. Gallup is ranked appropriately (the Friday update assumed Cooks wouldn't play).

If I see anything else notable in the next couple of hours, I'll post in the comments below.
