Well, that was certainly a game. Lots of good factoids from that one, perhaps the best being it was just the 6th game in the history of the league with no punts by either team. Or the 2nd-best, with the best being that Mike McCarthy was the head coach in two of the other five, with Green Bay in 2014. Who knew he was from the Mad Mike Martz school of coaching.

A good comment I saw this morning was that all we needed to have a great Thursday game was to have both teams playing on full week's rest (with both teams having played on Thanksgiving). Makes you think. But this is the way a lot of Cowboys home games have gone this year, at least their side of it. The only surprise was Seattle matching them blow for blow.

QUARTERBACKS

Hats off to Geno Smith. Personal comment, I'm in an FFPC league semifinal playoff game this week, starting Dak Prescott. My opponent's regular starter is Josh Allen, so I was feeling pretty good about Buffalo's bye forcing him to use Smith. I actually debated adding Kenny Pickett (the best available quarterback) from waivers this week so he'd be stuck using Geno. Needless to say, it turned out to be the wrong week to be facing the former Jet, with him having about the game of his life, including his first rushing touchdown of the season. Can't play defense in fantasy football, so all I can do is be glad Dak mostly matched him for points and hope everyone else steps up.

Geno made some throws in this game that I didn't think he was capable of, including at one point throwing touchdowns on three consecutive plays when a penalty and non-catch forced him too. Next week he travels to San Francisco and things probably won't go well, but no one is calling for Drew Lock these days.

At times Prescott frustrated me last night, since there were some plays he held the ball too long and didn't seem to be processing things as quickly as he should have. But man his throws were on target, and he threw 3 touchdowns that could have easily been 5 -- one his tight end couldn't quite corral in the end zone, and it looked like Tony Pollard's "rushing" touchdown could have been a forward pass; perhaps some bettor is out there lobbying the Stats department to get that changed. Prescott used all of his receivers and also ran the ball a few times near the goal line, though he looks painfully slow and awkward running it, almost Philip Rivers-esque these days.

RUNNING BACKS

Unlike the quarterbacks, I didn't think either running back looked particularly good. Although their fantasy production did. We discussed/debated Zach Charbonnet here some last week. Charbonnet had some solid runs and a nice catch-and-run, finishing with 99 total yards and a touchdown. Looked good at times, though the efficiency (3.2 yards per attempt) wasn't. I don't know. If you like Charbonnet, you're happy with his play against a really good defense, and if you're in the skeptic category, you'll say he's more backup than starter. Late in the game he left with a knee injury. Pete Carroll says it's more of a bruise than an injury and didn't think it was too bad, though with Pom-Pom Pete weighing in, Charbonnet could have left his kneecap on the field and Carroll wouldn't think it was too bad. Hopefully Seattle has one of its backs available for their game in San Francisco.

With Pollard, as we say every week, it's weird that Dallas didn't get him a better complement than Rico Dowdle. Somebody who can actually punch out the tough short yards near the goal line and stuff; you know, an Ezekiel Elliott type. Pollard's touchdown run was pretty close to being a reception, there were a couple of plays like that where Prescott dumped the ball off, it's unfortunate they don't use him more in the passing game than they do most weeks. In any case, Pollard has finally been scoring lately, salvaging fantasy value that seemed to be gone for a good chunk of the season. Cowboys face the Eagles tough run defense next week, hopefully they'll dial up some more passing plays for him.

WIDE RECEIVERS

Another week, another big game for CeeDee Lamb. Seattle didn't have much luck staying with him all game, he could have had a bigger night had they not also struggled to stay with other players, too. Seventeen targets; only Keenan Allen and Tyreek Hill are better on a per-game basis. He's just 24 years old. You hear a lot about Jalen Reagor being drafted ahead of Justin Jefferson, and rightly so. Henry Ruggs, Jerry Jeudy and some pretty modest defensive players were taken ahead of Lamb that year.

Bad week to be facing DK Metcalf, who equaled his touchdown total from the first 10 games (3) in this one. He was Mossing guys all game, and as noted Smith was throwing him some beautiful balls. Not a good night for DaRon Bland, obviously, but when Smith and Metcalf are playing at that level they're going to make a lot of cornerbacks look bad.

Brandin Cooks paid off in lineups, catching all 4 passes thrown his way for 45 yards and a score and also getting open for a 2-point conversion. Early in the season he looked, er, cooked, but he's been playing well lately. Other Dallas wideouts didn't get to do much (and in the case of Michael Gallup, it looks like he's pretty much being phased out).

Perhaps the moving of Jaxon Smith-Njigba past Tyler Lockett is becoming a thing. Smith-Njigba was making plays all night and finished with 3 more targets and 2 more catches while playing slightly less; Lockett also had at least one drop. Initially Smth-Njigba was credited with a touchdown before the half but he hadn't fully controlled it before hitting the ground, or his game would have been even better. But I think you can consider starting JSN in good matchups going forward. Saying that, of course, Lockett will probably come out with a big game next week.

TIGHT ENDS

There have been some duds along the way, enough so that some probably benched him last night, but Jake Ferguson is generally having a strong year, certainly way better than the vast majority of people ranked him in August. Our high expectations didn't pay off in a couple of early games, but he looks like a top-3 option in this passing game right now. Pretty sweet late touchdown, and a near-miss on the opening drive that was broken up on a good defensive play. I think he was then intended target on another end-zone play, too, that a defender broke up at the line. Some jawing with defenders too, you like to see your guy into the action.

Noah Fant caught 3 passes last night, but that's not going to be the start of any run of production. He at least played significantly more than the team's other two guys at the position, but Geno won't be throwing the ball 41 times again next week most likely.

MISCELLANEOUS

Biggest fantasy disappointment last night was probably the Dallas Defense, finishing with 1 sack and 1 takeaway while giving up 35 points. Several times they were a step slow in reaching the quarterback or sticking with the receiver. This defense has won games for you several times this season, unfortunate they let you down in Week 13. Them's the breaks.

There were a lot of flags last night, on both teams, part of why there were no punts -- a number of drives were extended, some by ticky-tack penalties. I won't belabor the point but some officiating crews throw flags on the same plays that others don't, and I guess that's human element we're stuck with. Considering the low quality of some Thursday night football games (and that Vikings-Bears eyesore on Monday), I'll the high-scoring shootout and be happy about it. I'm sure future Thursdays -- two of the final four are Patriots-Steelers and Browns-Jets, ugh -- will give us a lot more to complain about.
