Chiefs plan to activate WR Mecole Hardman

Hardman's return expected against the Bengals

The Kansas City Chiefs announced their plans to re-activate WR Mecole Hardman from IR in time for Sunday's game.

Hardman hasn't played since a Week 11 game against the Philadelphia Eagles due to a thumb injury. Hardman, who played for the Chiefs for four seasons, was signed last offseason by the New York Jets.

He was then traded back to the Chiefs for a Week 7 game against the Los Angeles Chargers. In four games with the Chiefs this season, Hardman has eight catches for 41 yards.

The move goes hand-in-hand with WR Kadarius Toney being out for Sunday's game for a second-consecutive week as he deals a hip strain injury.

The Chiefs have shocked fans and pundits with their lackluster play calling, dropped passes, and Mahome's atypical performance. While they sit at first place in the AFC West, recent losses have taken them out of the #1 Seed discussion. Despite the losses, the Chiefs have a 97 percent chance of winning the division and a 98 percent shot at making the playoffs.

They play the 8-7 Bengals this Sunday and finish their season against AFC West rivals, LA Chargers (5-10).
