Tre'Davious White, Rams Agree To One-Year Deal

The NFL Network first reported that the Los Angeles Rams and cornerback Tre’Davious White agreed to a one-year deal. Earlier this offseason, the Buffalo Bills released the veteran defensive back to free up $10 million in cap space.

White played only four games during the 2023 season due to an Achilles tear on a non-contact play. Before that, he earned consecutive Pro Bowl nods in 2019 and 2020. The Bills selected White in the first round (No. 27) of the 2017 NFL Draft. He will finish his stint with the Bills with 311 tackles, 68 pass deflections, and 18 interceptions in 82 games.

Aaron Donald’s retirement left a massive void on the Rams' defense. After losing one of their top pass rushers, the Rams upgraded their secondary. Hence, Los Angeles’ NFC team signed Darious Williams to a three-year deal before agreeing to terms with White.

White and Williams will bring maturity to a relatively young Rams defense. While they have Defensive Rookie of the Year finalist Kobie Turner up front, the rest of their unit, especially at cornerback, has been largely unproven.

Tre’Davious White and Darious Williams will supplant Cobie Durant and Tre Tomlinson as starters. Aside from cornerbacks, the Rams signed safety Kamren Curl to assist in their pass defense.

The Rams badly need help in that department because they finished 20th in passing yards allowed per game (231.1) last season.

Meanwhile, the Rams also get an accurate timeline for White’s full recovery because he underwent surgery with renowned surgeon Dr. Neal ElAttrache, the Rams’ team doctor. White permitted ElAttrache to share his data for better insight into his recovery.
