Bengals Re-Sign Jake Browning to Two-Year Contract

The Cincinnati Bengals extended quarterback Jake Browning’s contract for two more seasons, keeping him with the squad until 2025. While the terms of the deal remained a secret, he will likely receive an annual salary within the range of what backup quarterbacks earn.

Last year, Browning took over from Joe Burrow when he suffered a season-ending wrist injury. In seven games as the Bengals starter, the former Washington standout had 1,936 passing yards and 12 touchdowns.

The California native led Cincinnati to victories against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Indianapolis Colts, Cleveland Browns, and Minnesota Vikings. He also added 127 rushing yards and three touchdowns.

Coincidentally, the Vikings signed Browning as an undrafted free agent in 2019. However, he went as far as the practice squad, never making it to the active roster. Minnesota waived on August 31, 2021, nine days before the 2021 NFL season started.

Two days before the 2021 season started, the Bengals signed him to the practice squad. However, it took him two more years to finally join the active roster after defeating Trevor Siemian as Burrow's backup.

In addition to Burrow and Browning, the Bengals signed Logan Woodside to a one-year deal. The Bengals initially selected him in the seventh round of the 2018 NFL Draft, but he played for the Tennessee Titans and Atlanta Falcons.
