NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero initially reported that Travis Kelce signed a two-year contract extension, keeping him with the Kansas City Chiefs until 2027. However, he clarified that the All-Pro tight end restructured his existing deal with the Kansas City Chiefs, ending in 2025.
Kelce agreed to a two-year, $34.25 million deal, making him the highest-paid NFL tight end in terms of annual average value. Previously, Darren Waller had the top spot after signing a three-year, $51 million contract extension before the 2022 season.
In a video posted by the Chiefs’ official account on X (formerly Twitter), Kelce said:
“Feels good to be in KC. I remember coming here 12 years ago. It’s an honor and a pleasure, and I can’t wait to get after it in the next two years. No better time than right now.”

Kelce deserves top dollar because he has been one of the most dominant players in his position over the last decade. Since the Chiefs selected him in the 2013 NFL draft, he has earned seven All-Pro selections (four First Team) and nine Pro Bowl nods.
More importantly, he was integral to the Chiefs’ victories in Super Bowls 54, 57, and 58. From 2016 to 2022, Kelce had seven consecutive seasons of at least 1,000 receiving yards, including the single-season record for tight ends (1,416 yards in 2020).
Spotrac estimates that Travis Kelce has earned $89.9 million throughout his NFL career. He earned over $10 million in five of his 12 NFL seasons, including four consecutive years from 2021 to 2024. With him remaining in Kansas City, the Chiefs will try to become the first team in league history to win three consecutive Super Bowl titles.
