Patriots Sign C David Andrews to Extension

The New England Patriots have invested significantly in their offensive line by signing David Andrews to a contract extension until 2025. This extension comes with a base salary of $12 million over the next two seasons, a guaranteed $8 million, and the potential to earn up to $13 million through incentives and bonuses.

Andrews signed with the Patriots after getting undrafted in the 2015 NFL draft. He became New England's starting center in his rookie season after Bryan Stork was placed on injured reserve. His extensive playing time and low salary earned him a $237,427.11 performance bonus.

Since then, he has been a steady presence on the Patriots offensive line except in 2019, when he missed the entire season due to pulmonary embolism. A year later, he missed the season's first month due to a thumb injury that required surgery.

But before those injuries, Andrews signed a three-year contract extension worth up to $11.7 million. In 2021, he signed another four-year deal to remain in New England.

Last season, Pro Football Focus gave Andrews a 71.2 grade on offense. It's still an impressive mark, though lower than his 2021 (78) and 2022 (74.5) grades. However, he is raring to bounce back after surrendering a career-high six sacks out of 1,050 snaps last season.
