Mike Evans, Chris Godwin Power Buccaneers Passing Attack

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are three-time defending NFC South champions and playoff participants since 2021. The wide receiver tandem of Mike Evans and Chris Godwin was a primary reason for their success.

The Buccaneers’ official account on X (formerly Twitter) pointed out that Evans and Godwin were the only wideout tandem to reach 1,000 receiving yards from 2021 to 2023. After tallying 1,103 yards and five touchdowns in 2021, he had 1,023 yards and three touchdowns the following year.

Godwin had 1,024 yards and two touchdowns last season. He will play the final season under the three-year, $60 million extension he signed in 2022.

Meanwhile, Evans became the second player in NFL history to have ten consecutive 1,000-yard seasons. He’s also the first player in league history to start his career with ten straight 1,000-yard seasons.

Evans had 1,035 yards and a career-high 14 touchdowns in 2021. A year later, he had 1,124 yards and six touchdowns. Last year, he led the league with 13 touchdowns with 1,255 yards.

The Buccaneers averted Evans entering free agency by signing him to a two-year, $41 million contract extension. The five-time Pro Bowler will be under contract until the 2025 season.

Having Godwin and Evans helped Baker Mayfield complete a career resurgence. The former Heisman Trophy winner earned his first Pro Bowl selection last season after tallying 364 completions for 4,044 yards and 28 touchdowns.
