It’s legitimate to question which NFL jersey Brandon Aiyuk will wear for the 2024 NFL season. After sharing with Jayden Daniels that the San Francisco 49ers allegedly didn’t want the All-Pro wide receiver back, more details emerged regarding a discussion on a proposed trade between the Niners and the Washington Commanders.
As Aiyuk commented on JPAFootball's Instagram post, "But I thought the Niners was never tryna trade me?"

A conversation between the reigning National Football Conference champions and the Commanders regarding Aiyuk occurred. However, the Commanders did not pursue the trade for a good reason. In addition to Terry McLaurin, who has four consecutive 1,000-yard seasons, Washington has Jahan Dotson and rookie wideout Luke McCaffrey.
Meanwhile, the 49ers and Aiyuk met during contract negotiation talks. However, only a trade can prevent him from wearing the 49ers uniform this season because San Francisco exercised the fifth-year option on his rookie scale contract. That option will earn Aiyuk a fully guaranteed $14,124,000 this season.
Multiple reports emerged that the 49ers offered Aiyuk a contract extension worth $26 million annually. However, the former Arizona State standout reportedly wanted a deal with a $30 million yearly average. Getting that offer will put him among the highest-paid wide receivers this season.
While there are no definitive answers from Aiyuk and the 49ers, this saga will continue as training camp draws nearer.
