Cowboys Invite Nat King Cole's Grandson to a Workout

The Dallas Cowboys didn’t make many moves during the earlier days of free agency. In addition to bringing back Ezekiel Elliott, they signed Royce Freeman and Eric Kendricks. But even with the 2024 NFL Draft over, they’re not done evaluating athletes who can help their cause. That said, they’re bringing in Nat King Cole’s grandson for a workout.

According to the Cowboys' official website, the team invited defensive end Wyatt Ray. He last played for the United Football League's San Antonio Brahmas, tallying 6.5 sacks, the sixth-most during the upstart league's inaugural season.

After going undrafted in the 2019 NFL Draft, the former Boston College standout tried his luck with the Cleveland Browns, Houston Texans, Buffalo Bills, and New York Jets. However, he didn't make the active roster in those stops.

He finally broke through with the Tennessee Titans in 2020, the Cincinnati Bengals in 2021, and the Titans again in 2022. However, the AFC South squad released him by December, allowing the Denver Broncos to sign him to their practice squad.

Wyatt Ray played 23 NFL games, tallying 20 tackles, two sacks, and a forced fumble. In addition to Ray, the Cowboys invited running back John Lovett, defensive end Jonathan Garvin, and edge rusher Derick Roberson.

Dallas has successfully signed players from the spring football leagues, as evidenced by return specialist KaVontae Turpin and placekicker Brandon Aubrey.
