The Pro Football Staff compiled the list of their positional rankings for the 2024 NFL offseason. As it turned out, the San Francisco 49ers and the New York Jets dominated the list based on the six main groups in a football team.
PFF had the 49ers as the team with the best receiving corps and running back crew. Christian McCaffrey leads the way for San Francisco after 2,023 yards and 21 touchdowns from scrimmage last season. They also have Elijah Mitchell, Jordan Mason, and rookie Isaac Guerendo heading into training camp.
Meanwhile, the Niners boast of wide receivers Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk, and 2024 first-round pick Rickey Pearsall. While Aiyuk’s contract situation remains uncertain, he is under contract with San Francisco via the fifth-year option under his rookie scale deal.
Conversely, the Jets dominated all three phases on defense, as PFF named them the team with the best defensive line, linebacker group, and defensive secondary. In addition to Quinnen Williams, the Jets added Javon Kinlaw and Haason Reddick to their defensive line.
C.J. Mosley and Quincy Williams lead their linebacker crew. The secondary has All-Pro cornerback Sauce Gardner, D.J. Reed, Michael Carter II, Chuck Clark, and Tony Adams.
Completing the list are the Detroit Lions, which PFF selected as the team with the best offensive line. They have a strong case for that ranking with Frank Ragnow and Penei Sewell.
