Dolphins Place Bradley Chubb and Jaelan Phillips on PUP List

The Miami Dolphins ensure that Bradley Chubb and Jaelan Phillips will be 100 percent once they return to the field. Hence, they have placed their top pass rushers on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list at the start of training camp.

While Chubb played in 16 games last season, he suffered a torn ACL in their Week 17 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. Since the recovery period for ACL injuries often lasts 12 months, he might not be back until the 2024 AFC playoffs if the Dolphins clinched a spot. Chubb played impressively before dealing with that devastating injury, tallying 74 tackles and 11 sacks in 16 games.

Conversely, Phillips played in eight games before suffering an Achilles tear. Before the injury, he was on his way to a monster season because he already had 43 tackles and 6.5 sacks. While the Dolphins can activate both at any time, doing so makes no sense because they might not be ready to begin the 2024 regular season.

Shaquil Barrett and rookie Chop Robinson will likely take over as starting outside linebackers in Chubb and Phillips' absence. Barrett had 4.5 sacks and three forced fumbles last season, while Robinson had 17.5 sacks in two seasons with Penn State.
