Saints Sign WR Rashid Shaheed to Contract Extension

The New Orleans Saints will keep wide receiver/return specialist Rashid Shaheed until 2025 via a one-year, $5.2 million contract extension. The amount is a substantial jump from the $985,000 he will receive this season.

Shaheed earned his first Pro Bowl and All-Pro selection last season after tallying 384 kick return yards, 339 punt return yards, and a touchdown. This talent is right down his alley because he was a four-time All-American kick returner for the Wildcats. In addition to his return skills, he was also an asset to the Saints' offense, contributing 719 receiving yards and five touchdowns.

The former Weber State standout has found a home in New Orleans after going undrafted in 2022. But in addition to his kick return skill, the Saints want him to complement Alvin Kamara, Chris Olave, and Juwan Johnson on offense.

Therefore, the one-year extension serves as an audition for a potential long-term deal. He could be a valuable asset to a Saints team that last entered the playoffs in 2020.
