The Cleveland Browns and the Carolina Panthers will make quarterback changes for their 2024 Week 8 games. The Panthers will start Bryce Young against the Denver Broncos after Andy Dalton and his family were involved in a car accident.
Young lost his starting role to Dalton after Week 2 against the Los Angeles Chargers, in which the 2023 first-overall pick finished with only 84 passing yards in a 26-3 loss. Through 20 games, the former Alabama standout has 352 completions out of 592 passing attempts for 3,176 passing yards and 11 touchdowns.
Meanwhile, the Browns will have Jameis Winston as their starter against the Baltimore Ravens. The one-time Pro Bowler entered Cleveland’s Week 7 game versus the Cincinnati Bengals after Deshaun Watson suffered a season-ending Achilles tear and Dorian Thompson-Robinson dealt with a finger injury. Winston finished the game with five completions for 67 yards and a touchdown in the loss.

Winston signed a one-year deal with the Browns during the 2024 offseason. However, Watson remained the starter primarily because the team still wants to see if he can deliver on his five-year, $230 million fully guaranteed contract.
The Panthers and the Browns hope the quarterback transition can spark positive outcomes. The Browns are at 1-6, with their only victory coming against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Carolina is also at 1-6, beating the Las Vegas Raiders for their lone win.
