The National Football League named Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, Denver Broncos linebacker Cody Barton, and Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver/return specialist Charlie Jones as the American Football Conference’s best players for Week 7 of the 2024 season.
Jackson is the AFC Offensive Player of the Week after finishing with 281 passing yards and five touchdowns in their Monday Night Football showdown against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. What’s more impressive is that he missed only five passing attempts.
The two-time NFL Most Valuable Player added nine carries for 52 yards to help the Ravens improve to 5-2. This performance against a legitimate playoff contender has Jackson being the frontrunner for the 2024 NFL MVP award. Through seven games, Jackson has completed 68.2 percent of his throws for 1,810 yards, 15 touchdowns, and only two interceptions. He also has 455 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Barton was the AFC Defensive Player of the Week after tallying eight tackles and a 52-yard fumble recovery touchdown against the New Orleans Saints. It’s the first defensive touchdown of his NFL career, spanning stints with the Broncos, the Seattle Seahawks, and the Washington Commanders. He has 46 tackles and a quarterback hit in seven games.
Finally, Jones had a 100-yard kickoff return touchdown and 39 punt return yards in the Bengals’ game against the Cleveland Browns. He has one reception for five yards during the Bengals’ season opener versus the Patriots.
