The Houston Texans left no doubt that they are the best National League Football team in Texas after a convincing 34-10 Monday Night Football victory over the Dallas Cowboys. That 2024 Week 11 win ended a skid of losing three of their previous four games. Likewise, it wasn’t tough to identify the Texans’ best player because Joe Mixon dominated their intra-state rivals.
Mixon had 20 carries for 109 yards and three rushing touchdowns. The former Oklahoma standout has a rushing touchdown in six consecutive games, tying Arian Foster’s franchise record. Mixon generated all of Houston’s offensive touchdowns against Dallas. Meanwhile, ESPN Research revealed that 79 of his 109 rushing yards came before contact.
After playing his first seven NFL seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals, Mixon has been a fantastic addition for the Texans. While he missed three games, he still has 171 carries for 764 yards and ten touchdowns. Mixon reached 100 rushing yards in six games, including a season-high 159 in Week 1 against the Indianapolis Colts.

As Mixon gets his groove back, the Texans get a necessary boost on offense aside from Nico Collins’ return. They need all their offensive weapons clicking, especially now that they’re in the thick of the AFC playoff race.
In addition to leading the AFC South, they are fourth in the conference, meaning they could face the Wild Card team with the best record. Mixon and the Texans can improve their record further by defeating their division rival, the Tennessee Titans, on Nov. 24.
