Justin Jefferson Establishes Another NFL Record

Justin Jefferson helped the Minnesota Vikings clinch their eighth victory in ten games by tallying six catches for 81 yards against the Tennessee Titans. They are on a three-game winning streak as they stay on pace with the Detroit Lions and the Green Bay Packers in the NFC North. Individually, this performance added another milestone in Jefferson’s illustrious NFL career.

As Bleacher Report Gridiron posted on X (formerly Twitter), Jefferson passed Torry Holt for most receiving yards in the first five seasons. The former LSU standout has 6,801 yards, 17 more than Holt’s previous record.

Pro Football Hall of Fame wideouts Randy Moss (6,743) and Jerry Rice (6,364) complete the top four. Barring any injury, Jefferson is on pace for another 1,000-yard season as he stands at 912 yards and five touchdowns after ten games.

Jefferson took the league by storm after the Vikings selected him in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. He finished his rookie season with a then-record 1,400 yards and seven touchdowns. His former teammate, Ja’Marr Chase, eventually broke his single-season rookie record a year later.

However, Jefferson constantly improved his game, as shown by his 1,616 receiving yards in 2021. A year later, he won the NFL Offensive Player of the Year award after establishing career highs in receptions (128) and receiving yards (1,809).

Unfortunately, his NFL journey took a hit when he missed seven games last season due to a hamstring injury. Despite playing only ten games, he still tallied 1,074 receiving yards and five touchdowns. Jefferson’s in-field production earned him three All-Pro and three Pro Bowl selections.

In addition to having the most receiving yards through five seasons, he also holds the record for most career receiving yards per game at 97.3. Jefferson can build an insurmountable record with seven regular season games left while helping the Vikings clinch another playoff berth.
