Cowboys Struggles Extends At Home Field

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones’ declaration about going “all in” for the 2024 NFL season has backfired throughout the team’s first ten games. In addition to having Dak Prescott sidelined indefinitely, the team has won only three games and is on a five-game losing streak. Sadly, playing at home no longer gives them an advantage because they haven’t won at AT&T Stadium through Week 11.

Worse yet, as 33rd Team NFL writer Ari Meirov pointed out, the Cowboys have scored only five touchdowns at home this season. To put that disappointing number into context, the Detroit Lions scored five touchdowns in the Cowboys’ 47-9 loss. Meanwhile, the New Orleans Saints scored six touchdowns in Dallas during their Week 2 triumph.

The Cowboys have three games in which they scored ten points or less, all losses. Two of those games came in Weeks 10 (versus the Philadelphia Eagles) and 11 (against the Houston Texans), putting up a combined 16 points.

These numbers tell a depressing tale compared to their 2023 averages. During last year’s regular season, the Cowboys ranked fifth in total yards (371.6), third in passing yards (258.6), and first in points (29.9) per game. This year, they are tied with the Las Vegas Raiders for the eighth-worst points per game average (18.7) and are second-worst in rushing yards per game (81.7).

While there’s still a glimmer of opportunity for a playoff return, the team must win its remaining seven games to improve its chances. Turning things around starts with a road victory over their division rivals, the Washington Commanders, in Week 12.
