Ravens Are Excellent When Their Backs Are Against The Wall

No lead is safe from the Baltimore Ravens. While the Los Angeles Chargers scored the first ten points during their Week 12 Monday Night Football encounter, Baltimore emerged with a seven-point victory. Justice Hill’s 51-yard touchdown run sealed the Ravens’ eighth victory in 12 games in come-from-behind fashion.

The Ravens have been excellent in overhauling double-digit leads this season. As Action Network Media and Research Director Evan Abrams pointed out, Baltimore is 4-1 when trailing by at least ten points at any point of a game.

They have won four consecutive games in that manner, starting with their Week 5 home game against the Cincinnati Bengals. While their AFC North division rivals led by as many as ten points, the Ravens still secured a 41-38 overtime road victory.

Two weeks later, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers led by as many as ten points. However, Baltimore fought back for a 41-31 road win. The Ravens did it again versus the Bengals in Week 10, even if Cincinnati had a 14-point lead. They won by one point, 35-34, when the Bengals failed to convert a two-point try after a Ja’Marr Chase touchdown.

Finally, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh maintained his dominance over his younger brother, Los Angeles Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh, in their Week 12 meeting. While the Chargers struck first with a Justin Herbert rushing touchdown and a Cameron Dicker field goal, the Ravens defense limited the Chargers to six points for the next 41 minutes. Gus Edwards’ one-yard TD run served as a consolation in the losing effort.

The only ten-point deficit the Ravens failed to overhaul came in their season opener against the Kansas City Chiefs. The two-time defending Super Bowl champions had a 20-10 third-quarter lead and held on to a 27-20 victory.

Despite that shortcoming, the Ravens are still in the running for the AFC North division title. They can solidify their claim to the top spot by defeating the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 13.
