Long-term WRs

Nabers, Harrison lead strong class of rookie receivers

We’re into the second half of the season, and I think it can still be debated whether Marvin Harrison or Malik Nabers will be the better pro long term. For now, Harrison is doing a better job of putting the ball in the end zone, while Nabers is catching a lot more passes.

They both look good. In a dynasty draft, I think both would be selected among the first half dozen wide receivers – guys who look like they have a lot of top-10 seasons in front of them.

Harrison has caught half of Arizona’s 12 touchdown passes. But he hasn’t been used as much in general; he’s caught only 36 passes. And there have been a couple of appalling drops (against the Bills and Packers). But it’s looking like he’ll grow into being something special.

Nabers has caught only 3 TDs, including none since Week 3, but he’s been more the focal point of his team’s offense. Despite missing two games, he’s caught over twice as many passes (Harrison has caught 6 passes in only one game, while Nabers has caught at least 6 in eight of his 10 games).

Nabers hasn’t been shy about criticizing the offense, especially if he’s not getting the ball enough. That probably will cause some dustups in the future (it’s up in the air who’ll be coaching that team, and who’ll be at quarterback). But at least Nabers is out there advocating on behalf of those who selected him onto fantasy teams.

I’d be eager to select either one of those pass catchers in a draft.

I turn my attention to dynasty leagues every Saturday during the regular season, rotating between the four notable positions. I’m assuming PPR scoring, and I’ve got rookies tagged with black dots.
