The Baltimore Ravens have announced the hiring of Chuck Pagano as senior secondary coach. He returned to the Ravens 14 years after he became the team’s defensive coordinator. Likewise, he will work with John Harbaugh, rekindling their partnership that started in 2008 when Pagano became Baltimore’s secondary coach.
In addition to working with the Ravens, Pagano became the Indianapolis Colts head coach from 2012 to 2017. Before returning to Baltimore, he served as Chicago Bears defensive coordinator for two seasons. Pagano will also make an NFL return five years after his last coaching job in the pros.
Pagano started coaching as a graduate assistant at USC and the University of Miami. He then became linebackers coach for Boise State before having coaching stints at East Carolina and UNLV. He was coaching the Hurricanes as defensive backs and special teams coach before getting his first NFL role as secondary coach for the Cleveland Browns.

Pagano will bring over four decades of coaching experience to the Ravens, wherein he will specialize with the defensive backs again. Therefore, he will work with All-Pro players Marlon Humphrey, Tre’Davious White, and Kyle Hamilton. The Ravens ended their 2024 season with a loss to the Buffalo Bills in the Divisional Round.
