Question
Who was the first player to lead the league in sacks?
Answer
Doug Martin. The Vikings selected him out of the University of Washington with the 9th pick of the 1980 draft. He spent 10 years in the league, all with Minnesota. Martin had 11.5 sacks in the strike-shortened 1982 season. That was the first year sacks were an official stat. Martin recently passed away at age 68.
