Question
Since the merger in 1970, who are the only two players who’ve led all tight ends in catches both as a rookie and again in their second season? Both played for the same franchise, and both were top-15 draft picks.
Answer
Philadelphia Eagles, with Charle Young in 1973-74 and Keith Jackson in 1988-89. Young passed away on Tuesday, at 75. After playing at Southern Cal, he was the 6th pick of the 1973 draft. (He also, by the way, led all tight ends in catches in his third season.) Jackson was the 13th pick of the 1988 draft, after playing his college ball at Oklahoma.
