Question

Who was the last player to lead the league in receiving yards, then move to a new team in the offseason? As a reminder, we don’t tend to ask questions for no reason (those two teams are playing today).

Answer

Muhsin Muhammad. Muhammad piled up 1,405 receiving yards for Carolina in 2004. He then signed with Chicago. Muhammad lost Super Bowls with both of those teams, catching a touchdown in both of those games. Since the merger, three others have moved to new teams after leading the league in receiving yards. Harold Jackson was traded by the Eagles to the Rams in 1973. John Jefferson was traded by the Chargers to the Packers in 1981. And Brandon Lloyd was traded by the Broncos to the Rams in 2011. (In the cases of Jefferson and Lloyd, however, those trades came during the season.)
