Sunday morning injury updates

Puka likely, Breece Hall not

The Sunday morning injury updates are rolling in, and here are a few of the notable ones.

  • Rico Dowdle is active for Pittsburgh. That game is starting in a few minutes, but hopefully if you wanted to use him (or had to use him) you did.

  • Breece Hall (quad) was questionable, but he's reportedly unlikely to play. Fire up Braelon Hall against the Dolphins. Hall should be ranked about where Hall was in the Friday update.

  • Puka Nacua (calf) is reportedly expected to play for the Rams. A little risky, but if I had Puka, I would use him as ranked on Friday. He's a little bit lower than usual because of the possibility of limited snaps, plus anytime you start a player dealing with an injury you run the risk of a setback. But leaving a player like Puka on the bench is also risky, unless you have a strong alternative.

  • There are some injury reports (I'm speaking specifically of Twitter) that can best be described as garbage clickbait. Politely. I'm thinking at the moment of something that speculates DeVonta Smith is going to be shut down for the season because of a hamstring injury. Apologies for amplifying the thing, but it bugs me to see people putting junk out there for no good reason.

  • Christian Kirk has been activated and will play for the 49ers. Tricky part with San Francisco is how targets for Kirk-Brandin Cooks-Jordan Watkins will be distributed, but some potential for each in a good matchup with San Fran. They're ranked appropriately, hopefully, in Friday update.

  • There's a report that Cam Skattebo is expected to resume his role as Giants lead back. I'd like to believe that, but I got burned last week by the report that Najee Harris would be the lead back. So I'm just gonna say to use any Giants running back at your own risk. Nobody knows how these guys will be used. Risk in any one of them - Skattebo, Tyrone Tracy, Devin Singletary. And it's risk without the upside of someone like Puka Nacua.

  • Jonah Coleman playing for the Broncos. Probably in a three-back committee. I think Coleman is a great player to roster, not to start in Week 7.

  • Josh Jacobs is playing. Lead back most likely. Don't use another Packers running back. Keep expectations in check for Jacobs, who hasn't played football in a long time.

Good luck today.
