Ask the Experts

Who will be the Fantasy MVP?

ASK THE EXPERTS appears weekly from training camp through the Super Bowl with answers to a new question being posted Thursday morning. How the guest experts responded when we asked them: Who will be the Fantasy MVP?

DAVID DOREY

The Fantasy MVP will be … Antonio Brown! Seriously, you have to go with the guy you rank first in their position and overall in Top 200s. And Brown comes off a 136-catch season tying with Julio Jones for 2nd-best in NFL history. the Steelers offense will need to throw this year, but the receivers are not as good with Martavis Bryant suspended. The lowest risk/highest reward player is Brown and that has to qualify him as the most likely MVP.

Dorey is the co-founder and lead NFL analyst for The Huddle and author of Fantasy Football: The Next Level. He has projected and predicted every NFL game and player performance since 1997 and has appeared in numerous magazines, newspapers, radio and television.

SAM HENDRICKS

Anytime you can get the No. 1 QB in fantasy football in the 6th round you have a great chance of winning the championship. Aaron Rodgers will be the best quarterback in 2016 and that is exactly where you can get him in most leagues. After Cam, Russell Wilson, Andrew Luck and sometimes even Drew Brees. Aaron has Nelson and Cobb healthy plus a "happy-to-be-with-a-great-QB" TE in Jared Cook. Throw (excuse the pun) in a suspect running game with Eddie Lacy and you have the right mix for a brew of high powered air attacks. Yes you can wait on quarterbacks this year, but don't pass up Rodgers too long. Draft him in the late 6th and smile all the way to the playoffs.

Hendricks is the author of Fantasy Football Guidebook, Fantasy Football Tips and Fantasy Football Basics, all available at ExtraPointPress.com, at all major bookstores, and at Amazon and BN.com. He is a 25 year fantasy football veteran who participates in the National Fantasy Football Championship (NFFC) and finished 7th and 16th overall in the 2008 and 2009 Fantasy Football Players Championship (FFPC). He is drafting live in the FFPC in Vegas this year. He won the Fantasy Index Open in 2013. Follow him at his web site, www.ffguidebook.com.

IAN ALLAN

I like David Johnson. Like his catch-run ability, and I like the offense. I think he’s going to put up a lot of yards, and I think he’s going to get in the end zone a whole bunch. He’s a riskier selection than Antonio Brown, but sure is nice to have a superstar in that running back position if you can find one.

ALAN SATTERLEE

To me it will be Titans' running back Derrick Henry. Going in the 8th round or so, Henry is a ideal use of a draft pick around there. He will be a valuable RB2 even in a "1B" role with the Titans and should anything happen to DeMarco Murray, Henry will be a lock Top 5 fantasy back. Henry will be the type of pick that will win leagues.

MICHAEL NAZAREK

It's very tough to say, but I'll go ahead and choose Antonio Brown due to his consistency in huge fantasy production.

SCOTT PIANOWSKI

A boring nod for Antonio Brown, who is an uncoverable freak and the clear preference even past overlords like Odell Beckham and Julio Jones. The No. 1 pick is unfair this year, and there's no debate attached to it. I can raise obvious flags for the rest of the first round, plausible flags; with Brown, the only flags are his health and the health of Ben Roethlisberger. If you're looking for a "bang for the buck" winner, I've been in Spencer Ware's camp all summer.

Pianowski has been playing fantasy football for 20 years and writing about it for 17. He joined Yahoo! Sports in 2008 and has been blogging 24/7 on RotoArcade.com ever since.

ANDY RICHARDSON

Very possible in my mind it will be Cam Newton. I know you have to take him earlier than other quarterbacks, but he could be a weekly difference maker at a position where lots of people will be getting the same kind of production -- and he could be delivering the passing and rushing numbers that win matchups. Another guy who kind of catches my eye is Mike Evans. He looks like he's going to have a big year, and although I don't draft with the fantasy playoffs in mind, I'm intrigued by the fact that Tampa Bay plays New Orleans in Week 14 and Week 16, 'cause that's a really bad defense.

Richardson has been a contributing writer and editor to the Fantasy Football Index magazine and www.fantasyindex.com since 2002. His responsibilities include team defense and IDP projections and various site features, and he has run the magazine's annual experts draft and auction leagues since their inception.
