Gronk and Charles out, Parker in

Tight end no lock for Week 3

It's early, but thus far there are no surprises in the Sunday morning injury reports. Rob Gronkowski isn't going to play in Week 2, and he was ruled out quickly enough that you wonder about Week 3. The Patriots will be playing Houston on Thursday night, and the short week would seem to make him extremely iffy to suit up for that one.

Other news and notes:

  • Jamaal Charles (knee) won't play, as expected. It should be Spencer Ware getting most of the running back snaps and Charcandrick West as a change of pace. West was on the field for more snaps last week than you might expect, but Ware got a lot more touches and is the far superior option.

  • DeVante Parker (hamstring) is expected to play for Miami up at New England. Maybe you consider him as a big-play candidate to do something in garbage time, but probably safer to see him get through a game healthy before considering him (and he should still be the No. 3 behind Jarvis Landry and Kenny Stills regardless).

  • Demaryius Thomas (hip) is expected to play. There's some degree of risk given the injury; maybe he's limited. If you're risk averse and have a comparably ranked option, best to go with that player. Great matchup, but Thomas isn't fully healthy. Make sure you have another option at that later time just in case he winds up inactive.

  • Also showing up on injury reports but playing: Jonathan Stewart, Russell Wilson (ankle).
