Question

The Super Bowl features a pair of standout tight ends -- Rob Gronkowski and Zach Ertz -- but both franchises have had tight ends over the years who have caught even more passes. Who are the two players who hold the single-season team records for catches (by a tight end) for New England and Philadelphia?

Answer

For New England, Ben Coates caught 96 passes in 1994. For Philadelphia, Keith Jackson caught 81 passes in 1988. These tight ends played against each other in Super Bowl XXXI following the 1996 season (with Jackson playing for the Packers - his final NFL game). Coates' final game also came in a Super Bowl (playing for the Ravens against New York).
