It's the last week of June, and not much clarity on what 2019 holds for Tyreek Hill. But a story on the team in The Athletic (subscriber protected) indicates that the team expects Hill to receive a suspension from the NFL "as soon as next month."
Hill is apparently no longer under criminal investigation from the District Attorney's office for an incident involving allegations of child abuse, but he remains suspended indefinitely by the team itself. But he's still on the roster, so Kansas City hasn't cut ties entirely. So perhaps they won't.
Speculation generally leans toward the eight-game ban that Kareem Hunt received last year, although that's just speculation. The NFL might have gathered more information, or more likely just has broader ability to punish its players than the legal system.
Reading the tea leaves, it doesn't seem like Hill is going to be released. Indeed, he might actually play for Kansas City this year. Perhaps there's actually enough uncertainty over whether Hill or the child's mother is at fault that the team believes Hill can return and the whole thing will blow over.
I'll go along with the guess of an eight-game suspension. Kansas City then has a week 12 bye, and Week 17 doesn't count in many leagues. So if you decide you're going to draft Hill, figure you'll have him for seven games.
Sometime in July, so, before most fantasy drafts, we should know for sure.
