Question
If Derrick Henry runs for 100-plus yards today, he’ll become just the sixth running back to go over 100 yards in three straight playoff games in the same postseason. Who are the only two running backs who have gone over 100 yards in FOUR straight playoff games in the same season?
Answer
Terrell Davis and John Riggins. Denver in 1997 was a wild-card team; Davis led them to a title that season, with 100-plus against the Jaguars, then on the road against Kansas City and Pittsburgh (before the Super Bowl against Green Bay). With Riggins, his streak was different; the 1982 season was shortened to nine games (player strike) so the postseason was expanded, with Washington playing three home games before beating Miami in the Super Bowl. Both Davis and Riggins were Super Bowl MVPs in those years. On four other occasions, running backs have had three straight. Davis did it again in his following season for the Broncos. Also: Thurman Thomas (1990), Emmitt Smith (1992), Marcus Allen (1983).
