ASK THE EXPERTS appears weekly from training camp through the Super Bowl with answers to a new question being posted Thursday morning. How the guest experts responded when we asked them: Who has impressed you most this preseason?

SAM HENDRICKS

Marquez Callaway has impressed me the most with his preseason performance given his opportunity with Michael Thomas out. Monday night he had 100-plus yards and 2 scores in the first quarter! The secret is out on Callaway whom I have drafted a ton this year. He is the top target for whomever is the starting quarterback in New Orleans. I put my money on TreQuan Smith in years past. No longer. I am betting on Calloway this year; I love the physical, speedy former Vol receiver.

AARON BLAND

Ben Roethlisberger, who everyone has assumed has a dead arm, looked pretty good throwing downfield against Detroit. He could end up being a solid sleeper choice at the end of drafts.

Bland, a fanatical fantasy football player since 1992, has been a contributing expert to Fantasy Football Index since 2018 and appears regularly as a guest on the Fantasy Index Podcast. He is the Managing Editor at yourulz.com, a fantasy sports platform launching in 2021 that allows live in-game substitutions in every sport.

DAVID DOREY

There have been few truly impressive performances since most players do not play that long. And all performances have to be considered less impressive since almost no team has trotted out all first-string starters or developed a game plan for anything more than looking at players. Most of the guys we see in preseason games are going to be building pool decks or throwing Amazon boxes into trucks starting next month. That all said, there have been two. Justin Fields has been honestly impressive and his running skills will translate into higher and more consistent fantasy points. The most impressive of all has been Rhamondre Stevenson running for the Patriots. He ran in a 91-yard touchdown (granted against Washington scrubs) and then ran for 66 yards and two scores on 15 carries against the Eagles scrubs. Relying on anything in the Pats backfield has been a fool's errand. But Stevenson was my favorite final round grab this summer and he's going much higher now -- for a good reason.

IAN ALLAN

There was talk about Marquez Callaway impressing in training camp drills, and it’s translated into the games. He’s getting open, and he’s making plays. In the game at Baltimore, he caught all 3 passes thrown his way on the opening drive, for 61 yards. And then he really lit it up against the Jaguars, catching all 5 passes thrown his way, for 104 yards. On his 43- and 29-yard touchdowns in that game, they were difficult catches — he was badly interfered with on one, and he made a one-handed catch with his left hand on the other. I don’t think the vast majority of NFL wide receivers would have caught either of those passes.

PAUL CHARCHIAN

Rookie Jaret Patterson has emerged as the second-best runner in Washington. He's compact and powerful, demonstrating an ability to break tackles. Sure, he's still just a handcuff in deep leagues, but two weeks ago he was just a name on a depth chart.

Charchian is the CEO at GuillotineLeagues.com. Guillotine Leagues are a new way to play in which the lowest-scoring team each week gets chopped from the league, and all the players go to the waiver wire. Charchian was inducted into the Fantasy Sports Hall of Fame in 2013.

MIKE NAZAREK

Marquez Callaway appears to be the real deal. He is most definitely worthy of a mid-round fantasy pick in your draft this summer.

SCOTT SACHS

Running back Rhamondre Stevenson may be changing my mind about drafting an offensive player from New England. Stevenson rushed 15 times for 66 yards and two touchdowns and secured one of two targets for eight yards in the Patriots' 35-0 preseason win over the Eagles on Thursday night. He lost a fumble, too, but hard to nitpick, especially as he had a 127-yard effort in the exhibition opener against Washington with another pair of scores. Patriots have a crowded running back room, but hard to argue with 4 TDs in 2 games. His nickname of "Dre Day" has been updated by Cam Newton, who now refers to him as "Eddie Lacy". If he keeps putting up the numbers and stays healthy, hard not to roster him this season.

ANDY RICHARDSON

I like what I've seen out of both Washington running backs, Antonio Gibson and Jaret Patterson. Yes, they have J.D. McKissic, but he'll stick in that third-down role regardless. Gibson looks poised for a big year, and Patterson has run circles around the other running backs Washington has put on the field -- he's one of the most impressive rookie running backs I've seen this August. You've got to be in the right spot in drafts to actually get Gibson, but Patterson is an easy late-round pick to back him up or to break out in what should be a good offense if Gibson gets hurt.
