Brock Purdy

Unheralded youngster looking like a franchise quarterback

Brock Purdy completed his 17th full game as an NFL starter on Sunday. At this point, I think we can file away any notion of a sophomore slump or defenses figuring him out. He’s a good quarterback, and he’s here to stay.

The numbers are pretty remarkable. In these 17 games, he’s completed 69 percent of his passes and averaged 253 passing yards, with 32 TDs versus only 7 interceptions. He’s also run for 4 TDs, which aren’t listed.

Purdy has also gone 14-3 in those complete games. (He’s 14-4 as a starter overall, getting knocked out early in the NFC title game in Philadelphia last season.) But whether that one’s included or not, Purdy has been very good.

I wouldn’t worry much at all about how he might play in Seattle on Thanksgiving. (Weather, by the way, won’t be an issue for that game.)
