Jason Pierre-Paul headed home to Florida

Dolphins sign veteran edge-rusher from Saints' practice squad

Announced late yesterday afternoon, Florida-native Jason Pierre-Paul is headed back to Florida after signing with the Miami Dolphins.

Jason Pierre-Paul, the former edge rusher for the Baltimore Ravens, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and NY Giants, is ending his time with the New Orleans Saints and is set to join the Miami Dolphins. Pierre-Paul's move to Miami is likely a response to the season-ending Achilles injury of Dolphins linebacker Jaelan Phillips.

A Florida native, Pierre-Paul had only recently signed with the New Orleans Saints, joining their practice squad on November 15. Miami, then moved to acquire Pierre-Paul from the Saints on Monday, with plans to add Pierre-Paul to their 53-man active roster for the remainder of the season.

Pierre-Paul himself confirmed the move in an Instagram post, expressing excitement about returning to his home state. He stated "I'M COMING HOME. I would like to thank the New Orleans Saints and the organization for giving me the opportunity to play for them," Pierre-Paul added.

The 14-year veteran, Pierre-Paul was drafted by the New York Giants in the first round (15th overall) of the 2010 NFL Draft and quickly became a vital member of the Giant's defense including during their Super Bowl XLVI victory over the New England Patriots in the 2011 season.

In 2020, as a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Pierre-Paul won his second Super Bowl title. There's no doubt, with Miami in the hunt, Pierre-Paul is looking for a third ring.
