Eagles manifesting problems on offense

Quarterback Jalen Hurts mentioned in the press conference after their Week 15 Monday Night Football game that the Philadelphia Eagles players aren’t “committed enough.” What’s striking is that he didn’t clarify what he meant by that phrase.

However, it doesn’t take an expert to pinpoint the Eagles’ problems. They have lost their next three after winning 10 of their first 11 games. Interestingly, their recent defeats came against teams that have either clinched playoff berths or are still in the hunt.

After being dominated by the San Francisco 49ers and the Dallas Cowboys, the Eagles were in a close battle against the Seattle Seahawks. However, Philadelphia gained only 4.7 yards per play in their three-point loss.

Their scoring production has drastically gone down. After averaging 28.1 points in their first 11 games, they are down to 16.3 during their losing streak. Worst yet, they haven’t reached 20 points from Weeks 13 to 15. They scored 19 points against 49ers, 13 versus the Cowboys, and 17 against the Seahawks.

The Eagles are struggling despite having arguably the best offensive line in the NFL with Jason Kelce, Lane Johnson, Jordan Mailata, Landon Dickerson, and Cam Jurgens, who was out during their game against Seattle.

They are also loaded at running back with D’Andre Swift, Kenneth Gainwell, and Boston Scott. They also have A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, and Dallas Goedert as their top receivers.

Hurts isn’t spared from the Eagles’ woes. While they scored two touchdowns against the Seahawks, they were both courtesy of his runs. He hasn’t had a passing touchdown during their three-game skid and has thrown two interceptions to Julian Love on Monday night.

Philadelphia’s latest defeat has them at 10-4. While the Cowboys also lost to the Buffalo Bills in Week 15, they hold the top spot in the NFC East due to the Eagles’ loss. The defending Super Bowl champions must find their groove again to have home-field advantage, at least for the Wild Card Round.
