In what could have been one of the Buffalo Bills’ most formidable challenges in the 2024 NFL season, James Cook made it look easy. During the Bills’ demolition of the Miami Dolphins in the first Thursday Night Football game this season, he was like a man among boys.
Cook was responsible for 18 of the Bills’ 31 points against the Dolphins, helping them improve to a league-best 2-0 record. The running back from Georgia finished the contest with 11 carries for 78 yards and two touchdowns while adding a 17-yard touchdown catch.
Cook helped the Bills draw first blood when he caught a pass from Josh Allen at the 9:49 mark of the opening quarter. In the second quarter, he had touchdown runs of one and 49 yards, extending Buffalo’s lead to 17, 24-7. His production was enough because the Dolphins couldn’t generate a second-half comeback, ending up scoreless in the third and fourth quarters.

James Cook’s Week 2 stats give him 149 rushing yards and 49 receiving yards for the season. Meanwhile, his production resulted in 27.5 fantasy points in standard mode. His 37.8 fantasy points after two games have him ranked second among running backs and third overall.
More importantly, he and Allen will continue to develop their chemistry as the season progresses. Therefore, Cook could have another big game in Week 3 when they face the Jacksonville Jaguars at home.
