Chiefs Joining Elite Group After Earning Tenth Victory In 2024

The Kansas City Chiefs completed a hard-earned Week 12 victory against the Carolina Panthers 30-27. In addition to retaining the American Football Conference’s top seed, that win earned them a place in NFL history as the third team with at least ten wins in ten consecutive seasons.

The San Francisco 49ers were the first team to achieve that feat, earning at least ten victories per season from 1983 to 1998. Meanwhile, the New England Patriots started their streak five years after San Francisco’s ended and lasted for 17 seasons. The Indianapolis Colts fell one season short of the mark from 2002 to 2010.

Kansas City’s streak started in 2015, Andy Reid’s third season with the Chiefs. The team finished with an 11-5 record and won a playoff game against the Houston Texans. Unfortunately, they lost to the New England Patriots in the Divisional Round.

Despite bowing out of the competition, the Chiefs had six Pro Bowlers and three All-Pro athletes (Eric Berry, Derrick Johnson, Marcus Peters) on their roster. What’s more impressive is that Reid went below ten wins only once since he started coaching the Chiefs in 2013.

Since the streak started, the Chiefs have played in six consecutive AFC Championship games and won three Super Bowls. Patrick Mahomes was the Most Valuable Player in all of the Chiefs’ Super Bowl victories during the Reid era.

This season, they are playing for a monumental place in the NFL record book as the first team to win three consecutive Super Bowl titles. But before knowing if they can achieve that goal, having another ten-win season proves the Chiefs are the NFL’s model franchise.

The Chiefs can add more victories starting in Week 13 when they face their division rivals, the Las Vegas Raiders.
