Jalen Pitre Out Due To Pectoral Tear

The Houston Texans have announced that safety Jalen Pitre will be out of action for multiple weeks due to a partial pectoral tear. He suffered the injury during the Texans’ 32-37 loss to the Tennessee Titans.

It’s an unfortunate update for a team that has lost three of their last four games. Pitre’s loss could weaken Houston’s pass defense, which allows only 192.3 passing yards per game, making it the fifth-best in the league.

Luckily for the Texans, Pitre’s injury is not season-ending, and he could return to action in weeks. They’ll need his service as they hope to escape their midseason slump.

After playing for the Stafford Spartans in high school and the Baylor Bears in college, the Texans kept Pitre in the Lone Star State by selecting him in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

He started all 17 games during his rookie season, finishing with 147 tackles, eight passes defended, five interceptions, a sack, and a fumble recovery. Those numbers earned him a spot in the Pro Football Writers Association’s All-Rookie Team. Pitre also finished fifth in the Defensive Rookie of the Year voting.

A year later, Pitre suited up in 15 regular season games, finishing with 84 tackles, five passes defended, and a fumble recovery. He first tasted postseason action, tallying nine tackles in two games.

Before the pectoral tear injury, Pitre had 65 tackles, eight passes defended, and an interception in 12 games.
