While it wasn’t the prettiest of games, the Seattle Seahawks kept their playoff hopes alive by defeating the Chicago Bears in their Week 17 Thursday Night Football showdown. If the Green Bay Packers completed the first shutout victory of the 2024 season last week, Seattle’s victory over Chicago could be the lowest-scoring game of the season.
The placekickers scored points for their respective teams, with Jason Myers converting two field goals and Cairo Santos having one. While the Seahawks failed to score a touchdown, their defense was magnificent, as they sacked rookie quarterback Caleb Williams seven times.
Meanwhile, the Bears could tie the game or go for the win with their final offensive drive. However, Tariq Woolen stole a pass intended for DJ Moore to clinch their ninth victory in 16 games. Conversely, it was Williams’ first interception in his last 354 passing attempts, and the Seahawks limited the Bears to 179 total yards.
Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith had 17 completions for 160 yards, while Zach Charbonnet had 15 carries for 57 yards. Noah Fant and DK Metcalf combined for seven catches and 85 yards.
Despite the low-scoring victory, the Seahawks still have a path to the playoffs by winning the NFC West. However, they don’t have control over their fate because the Los Angeles Rams will face the Arizona Cardinals this week. A win by Arizona over Los Angeles means the Week 18 Seahawks-Rams game will be for the division and a home playoff game during the Wild Card Round.
