I've considered the possibility that no one could possibly care less how I'm doing in this competition, so I'm not even going to mention that I've inched my way up to 11th overall. I'm going to just get right to this week's picks.
Details were laid out here , so if you missed that column, check it out, and then come on back here.
The contest is totally free, and it's simple. Each week you pick the best 2 QBs, 2 RBs, 3 WRs, 2 TEs and 2 PKs (scoring system: 1 point for 10 run/rec or 20 passing yards, 6 points for run/rec TDs, 4 points for passing TDs, straight NFL points for kickers). You will be playing alongside Fantasy Index writers and subscribers, and there will be weekly prizes for the reader whose team posts the best score. Here's my Week 15 lineup.
Quarterbacks: Tom Brady and Drew Brees. Brady is at home against the Titans. Brees is at home against the Lions. I could just as easily go with Matthew Stafford facing Brees' team, as he should be great too, but Brees at home has been gold of late.
Running Backs: Adrian Peterson and Todd Gurley. There are a lot of sleeper-type options this week, including new starters Denard Robinson and Bryce Brown. But I'm going tried and true with the two best running backs in the league. Peterson will have a monster game against the Bears. Gurley faces the Bucs which isn't ideal, but I still think he'll be great. Might change that one, we'll see. If the Seahawks say some nice things about Brown, well....
Wide Receivers: Odell Beckham Jr., Julio Jones and DeAndre Hopkins. Very straightforward. Beckham is tearing up the league. Hopkins faces the Colts and destroyed them once already this year. Jones faces a soft Jacksonville secondary. Maybe he'll even score.
Tight ends: Rob Gronkowski and Antonio Gates. Lot of familiar names in my lineup this week. Gates should be Philip Rivers' main target against Miami.
Kickers: Stephen Gostkowski and Steven Hauschka. Home teams that should score plenty and win big.
Top two defenses this week are Seattle and New England, and it isn't close.
Good luck to the rest of you.
