Buccaneers Sign Randy Gregory to One-Year Deal

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and outside linebacker Randy Gregory agreed on a one-year deal for the 2024 National Football League season. He is coming off a season with 3.5 sacks and 20 tackles in 16 games for the Denver Broncos and the San Francisco 49ers.

The Broncos traded Gregory and their 2024 seventh-round pick to the Niners for a 2024 sixth-round selection. Gregory started his NFL career after the Dallas Cowboys selected him in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft.

His breakout season came in 2018 when he had career highs of 25 tackles and six sacks. Unfortunately, he missed the entire 2019 after receiving an indefinite suspension for violating the league’s substance abuse policy.

Gregory filed for reinstatement and re-joined the Cowboys in 2020. After another six-sack season in 2021, he reportedly signed a five-year contract extension with the Cowboys. However, a clause that allowed the Cowboys to claim bonuses if a player gets fined or suspended prompted him to sign a contract of the same nature with the Broncos.

But Gregory played in only six games in 2022 after a knee injury. The NFL served him a one-game suspension after an altercation with guard Oday Abuoshi. Through the 2023 season, Randy Gregory has 117 tackles, 22 sacks, 12 pass deflections, two fumble recoveries, and ten forced fumbles.

The former Nebraska standout will join Tampa Bay’s defense featuring Vita Vea, Lavonte David, Jamel Dean, Jordan Whitehead, and All-Pro safety Antoine Winfield Jr.
